Storm Damage Repair in Stroud

Once the hail stops or the wind dies down, sorting real damage from scuffs is tough, and so is guessing what an insurer will care about. We climb up, photograph everything we find, explain it simply and make the repairs that get your home ready for the next round of weather.

Putting your roof right after hail or wind

Standing on the lawn, you often cannot see what a storm did up top. Hailstones can bruise a shingle and strip the granules that shield it from the sun. Wind can raise a tab and break its seal without pulling it loose. A roof like that may look normal now and begin leaking months from now.

We find that hidden damage, show it to you plainly and repair it properly. Each slope, along with the vents, flashing and gutters, gets dated photos, and we chalk-mark hail hits so they are easy to see in the pictures. Those photos are yours to keep for your files and your insurer.

You will get a straight answer from us. When a storm caused little harm, we say that. When the damage is real, we tell you whether a repair is enough or whether the roof is worn far enough that roof replacement is the better choice.

What we handle on a storm repair

Every slope, every detail
We look over the whole roof, including the sides that did not face the wind. Valleys, ridge caps, vents and pipe boots all get checked by hand.
Photos you can keep
We hand over clear pictures of the damage, with close shots of hail marks, creased tabs and loose flashing. They give you something solid to show your insurance adjuster.
Temporary protection
If an opening could let rain through, we tarp or seal it. That keeps water out of your home during the weeks your claim is being worked out.
New shingles, sound flashing
We pull the damaged shingles and set new ones in their place. Bent flashing gets resealed or replaced, cracked vent caps and pipe boots are swapped out, and we match your existing shingles as closely as current products allow.
Soft metal and gutters
Dings in gutters, downspouts and window trim often reveal the size of the hail. We record them, and our gutters service can fix or replace what was hit.
A tidy finish
Before we pack up, we sweep the yard and driveway for stray nails and shingle scraps.

Clues your roof took a hit

  • Dings in metal

Marks on gutters, vent caps or downspouts mean hail struck hard enough to hit the shingles as well. You can usually spot these without a ladder.

  • Grit at the downspout

Sandy granules piling up where a downspout empties are a sign shingles shed their protective coating. Those bare patches break down faster.

  • Shingles lifted or gone

Straight-line winds from Oklahoma spring storms can fold shingles back or rip them away. A single gap is enough for water to reach the wood below.

  • Fresh water spots inside

A new tan stain overhead, or a musty attic after a rain, usually means a leak. The water may be entering well away from where the stain shows up.

  • The whole street is calling roofers

When homes around you are having roofs inspected after the same storm, your roof faced that same hail and wind. Having it checked makes sense.

What to expect, step by step

  1. 1

A phone call about the storm

We ask what day it hit and what you have spotted since, then pick a time to visit. If water is getting inside, tell us and we will plan to cover that first.

  2. 2

    Roof check and pictures

We get up on the roof and take photos of every spot that took damage. Back on the ground, we look through those images with you, so you know what we saw and why it matters.

  3. 3

    Guidance on the claim

We walk you through how claims usually unfold, what adjusters tend to look at and which questions are worth asking. We do not act as your adjuster or predict what your policy pays, but we are glad to be on the roof during the adjuster's visit so nothing is overlooked.

  4. 4

    The repair itself

We cover plants and siding, strip the damaged material, inspect the decking below and put down new materials. Most repairs are done in a single day.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough and wrap-up

We go over the finished roof with you, send the after photos and leave the property clean.

What shapes the price of a storm repair

No two storms hit a roof the same way, so we only price the work once we have seen it up close. Your estimate comes in writing, broken out line by line, and if something changes once the old material is off, we talk with you before doing it. When insurance is part of the picture, that itemized estimate is easy to set beside the adjuster's report.

How far the damage spreads
Replacing a handful of wind-lifted shingles on a single slope is quick work. Hail strikes scattered over the whole roof call for a much bigger scope.
What the decking looks like
Wood that has taken on water goes soft and has to be swapped out. Often we only find this after the damaged shingles are pulled.
Matching your shingles
Certain older shingle lines have been discontinued. Getting a repair to blend in can take extra material or a wider patch.
Pitch and how we reach it
A steep roof or a cramped yard means more safety equipment and slower, more careful work.
Other damaged parts
When the storm also hit gutters, vents, skylights or flashing, those go on the list and add to the total.

Common questions after a storm

Something not covered here? (405) 358-4742

Do I contact my insurer first or get the roof looked at first?

Many homeowners like to have the roof checked before they open a claim, so they are not filing over damage that turns out to be cosmetic. Our photos also hand you concrete details to mention once you do make that call. It is worth reading your policy as well, since some insurers want storm damage reported promptly.

Is my insurance going to cover a full new roof?

Nobody can honestly promise that, including us. It comes down to your policy, your deductible and what the adjuster finds on the roof. Our part is to record the damage clearly and explain each step so nothing catches you off guard.

Is there a deadline to file a hail claim?

Every insurer and policy sets its own window. Your policy paperwork or your agent can tell you exactly. Having the roof checked soon after the storm keeps the damage fresh and makes it easier to connect to that date.

Could my roof have hail damage if nothing is leaking?

It can. Hail frequently cracks the mat inside a shingle or strips its granules without letting water through right away. That shingle then ages faster and may begin leaking a season or two down the road.
