Why We Start Every Job With a Camera

Most calls we get begin with a worry. A storm rolled through, a stain showed up on the ceiling, or a neighbor had an adjuster out and you are wondering if you should too. Our first job is to get on the roof and find out what is really there.

We photograph what we see, from bruised shingles and cracked ridge caps to dented vents and lifted flashing. Then we sit down with you, in the driveway or at the kitchen table, and go through the pictures one by one. When the damage looks like something a policy may cover, we lay out the usual order of things. The process starts when you contact your insurance carrier. After that, an adjuster comes out to inspect the roof, and the insurer sends you a summary of what it agrees to pay for. If what we found looks like ordinary wear and age instead, we say so plainly, because a claim that should not be filed rarely does you any good.

The adjuster represents your insurance company, and how much gets paid is their call, not ours. Our role is smaller and more hands-on. If you would like us there, we will join the adjuster on your roof, walk them to each spot we photographed, and give you a written, line-item estimate so you can set the two sets of numbers side by side.
