Roof Repair in Stroud, OK

One water spot on the ceiling or a handful of torn shingles after a windy night usually calls for a targeted fix, not a new roof. We track down the exact place water is getting in, repair it correctly, and walk you through photos of the problem and the finished work.

When a repair is the right call

Most roof problems start small and in one place. It might be a cracked pipe boot, a lifted shingle tab, a nail that backed out and punched through the shingle above it, or flashing that pulled loose from a chimney. If the rest of the roof still has life in it, fixing that one spot is usually the sensible choice, and that is what we will tell you.

If the shingles are brittle across a whole slope, the granules are worn down to the mat, or the decking is soft in several places, we will say so plainly and explain why patching would only buy a short time. Roof replacement only comes up when the roof truly needs it.

Damage after hail or a wind event may be covered by your homeowners policy. We take dated photos and notes you can share with your insurance company, and we explain how a claim usually moves. Your adjuster makes the coverage decision, not us, so we will never promise that a claim will be paid.

What our roof repair work covers

  1. 01

    Finding the real leak

A ceiling stain often sits a few feet from the spot where water actually enters. We follow the trail from the attic side, along rafters and decking, until we reach the true source, and we only start on the shingles once we know where it is.

  2. 02

    Shingle replacement

We lift out any shingles that are torn, creased or missing entirely and fit replacements that match your roof as closely as current products allow. Each one is fastened on the proper nail line and sealed down, so a hard gust has less chance of catching the edge.

  3. 03

    Flashing and pipe boots

The places where a roof meets a chimney, wall, skylight or plumbing vent are where most leaks begin. We reseal or replace step flashing and counterflashing, and we change out rubber pipe boots that years of sun have split.

  4. 04

    Decking repair

If water has soaked into the wood, we cut out the soft or rotted boards and lay fresh sheathing before reroofing that section. Putting new shingles on top of rot only covers up a problem that comes back later.

  5. 05

    Valleys and ridge caps

Valleys carry more runoff than anywhere else on your roof, and the ridge takes the brunt of the wind. We repair worn valley shingles or metal, and we refasten or replace ridge caps that have started to lift.

  6. 06

    Damage documentation

You get before and after photos with every repair, plus brief notes on what caused the problem. They are yours to keep on file or to hand to your insurance company if a storm did the damage.

Warning signs your roof needs a repair

  • Water spots indoors

Discolored rings on the ceiling or paint that bubbles, often close to a chimney or exterior wall, tell you water is getting through. Even if it only happens in a hard rain, have it checked before the decking starts to soften.

  • Shingle scraps after wind

Bits of shingle in the lawn or gutters after a gusty night mean a section of roof is now uncovered. Those bare patches let rain hit the underlayment with nothing on top.

  • Grit collecting at downspouts

A thick pile of dark granules near the downspouts can show up after hail. It can also just be age, and we can tell you which one you are looking at.

  • Daylight or dampness in the attic

Tiny points of light through the roof boards, wet insulation or a stale, musty odor all suggest an opening somewhere overhead.

  • Dings on vents and gutters

Dents in roof vents, gutters or the AC unit are an easy hint that hail was strong enough to bruise the shingles as well. Bruised shingles are tough to spot from the ground and can crack and start leaking months afterward.

How a repair visit goes

  1. 1

    The phone call

Let us know what you have noticed, where it shows up and how long it has been happening. We agree on a visit time and ask if you expect to file a claim, so we know what to record.

  2. 2

    Roof and attic inspection

We go over the roof on foot, look in the attic when there is safe access, and take photos of the damage and what likely caused it. You receive a written estimate with each repair on its own line.

  3. 3

    Repair day

A typical repair takes a few hours. We cover your flower beds and driveway with tarps, pull off the damaged materials, fix anything underneath, and put on new shingles, flashing or pipe boots.

  4. 4

    Cleanup and walkthrough

A magnetic sweeper goes over the yard to pick up loose nails, and we haul off all the debris. Then we review the after photos with you, and they are yours to pass along to your adjuster if needed.

What moves the price of a roof repair

We can only price a repair once we have been on the roof, since what you see from the yard is rarely the whole picture. Your written estimate breaks the work into separate lines, so every charge is easy to follow. If something unexpected turns up once the old materials come off, we stop and talk it over with you before doing anything extra.

How much is damaged
Swapping out a few shingles is a small job. Rebuilding an entire valley or a large patch of one slope takes far more material and time.
The condition of the decking
Soaked or rotted plywood means more lumber and more labor. That damage is often hidden until the shingles are lifted, so we photograph it and get your go-ahead before we continue.
Roof pitch and how we reach it
A steep slope, a two-story wall or a corner crowded by tree limbs calls for extra safety equipment and slower, more careful work.
The materials involved
Three-tab shingles, architectural shingles and metal panels are priced differently. If your original shingle is no longer made, finding a close substitute can affect the cost.
Whether a claim is involved
When a covered storm caused the damage, your policy terms and deductible decide your share. We help you make sense of the paperwork, and your insurance company sets the figures.

Roof repair questions

Can you just fix the leak, or do I need a new roof?

In most cases a leak is repairable. While we are up there, we look over the rest of the roof too. If the shingles are close to worn out, we show you the photos and explain what we saw, and the decision is still yours to make.

Will my insurance pay for the repair?

That comes down to the cause of the damage and the wording of your policy. Sudden hail or wind damage is often covered, while normal aging usually is not. We record what we find and explain how the process tends to go, and your adjuster decides on coverage.

Will the new shingles match the old ones?

We aim for the closest match available. If your shingle has been discontinued, we track down the nearest color and shape and let you see samples before we begin. Slight differences tend to blend in as the new shingles age in the sun.

How long does a repair take?

Most repairs wrap up in one day, and many take only a few hours. Bigger valley or decking jobs can run longer, and we let you know when we hand over the estimate. Wet weather can push the date back, because we do not open up a roof in the rain.

Do I need to be home?

Being there for the inspection is helpful, so we can look at the inside stains with you and get into the attic. On repair day you can be away, as long as we have access to the yard and the roof.
